Description
Diemersdal Noble Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc is a gorgeously rich, sweet dessert wine from one of South Africa’s oldest wineries. The estate began producing wine in 1698 and has been run by the Louw family for six generations. The grapes were left hanging on the vine until they were affected by botrytis, or ‘noble rot’ – just like the fine dessert wines of Sauternes. This beneficial fungus draws moisture from the grapes, concentrating their sugars and flavours to create something truly special. After fermentation, the wine was matured for nine months in oak barrels, adding notes of vanilla and spice to its tangy dried fruit character. Full flavoured, with sweetness and bright acidity in perfect balance, it’s a brilliant match for crème brûlée, poached pears or apricot tarte tatin.
