A finely tuned Bordeaux blend from these new kids on the block!
Stanford Hills Jacksons Pinotage 2006
Unique, earthy, liquorice-scented Cape red from the stunning Stanford Hills Estate. Nestled among stunning scenery in the Walker Bay region, the winery has an award-winning heritage – their Pinotage was awarded 4 stars for the last three vintages in the John Platter Wine Guide, the ‘who’s who’ of South African wine. Made from premium, hand-picked grapes, Jackson’s Pinotage was fermented in small batches and then mellowed for 11 months in fine French oak barrels. Aromas of violets and lavender are followed by intense blackberry and cherry fruit flavours, with earthy liquorice and tar notes and a touch of vanilla on the finish. A fine partner to barbecued meats.

Bergsig Estate Shiraz Rose
SORRY THIS WINE IS NOW SOLD OUT
One of the first 2008’s to hit our shores, Lategan’s Bergsig Estate Shiraz rose is at its freshest peak! Situated alongside the du Toitskloof mountains, the Lategan estate benefits from its own micro-climate. The drier and warmer conditions ensure that the grapes achieve maximum ripeness and richness. These are then handpicked in the morning to avoid the heat of the day. Pink’s still a relatively rare hue in the Cape, but it won’t be for long if the Lategan family keep making wines as good as this! Ripe strawberry laced with creamy raspberry undertones and subtle white pepper spice. Cheers!
Winery Heights Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Cabernet Franc
Presenting a superb discovery from a historic and spectacular producer on Stellenbosch mountain. Up here you can see all the way to Cape Town harbour … and, with this great red, you can enjoy richness and maturity seldom available at this low price. This comes from the Delaire Estate where they can trace their roots back to 1688 when French Huguenots arrived in South Africa and trekked over Stellenbosch Mountain to establish the town of Franschhoek (‘Corner of France’). The estate is way up on the crest of Helshoogte Pass, where settlers would look out for trade ships arriving in Cape Town. Delaire is given a 4-star rating by Platter’s South African Wine Guide and upholds its French heritage in this Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot-Cabernet Franc (a blend synonymous with good claret). Like Bordeaux’s finest, this has been lavished more than a year in French oak barrels, adding a vanilla richness to its ripe cassis and mulberry flavours. Mature savoury notes (this ’05 is just hitting its peak), supple tannins and velvety texture.
