Kloovenburg Shiraz

SORRY THIS WINE IS NOW SOLD OUT

Kloovenburg estate lies in the picturesque Riebeek Valley – an area renowned for its top quality red wines, especially those made from Shiraz. Steeped in history, the property has been producing wine since 1704 and is currently owned by virtuoso winemaker Pieter du Toit. Over the years, Pieter and his team have won countless credentials, including coveted Gold medals and five-star Decanter magazine ratings. The reason is the sheer concentration and power of Kloovenburg wines, and the intensity of ripe fruit flavours. Their Shiraz is no exception! Full and concentrated, with ripe red berry and spice flavours, and a hint of vanilla on the finish. Excellent length and balance, it’s absolutely delicious with a big juicy steak.

The Amasimi Kelder Byekorf Hoek Semillon

SORRY THIS WINE IS NOW SOLD OUT

This is a tasty lemon-fresh white from Lelanie Germishuys at the Ashwood winery in the beautiful expansive vineyards of South Africa’s Franschoek. The wine is made purely from Semillon, one of the noble white grapes of Bordeaux together with Sauvignon Blanc. They often pair together to make up both the honeyed sweet and dry whites of the region. Pure Semillon is occasionally encountered in Sauternes or Barsac, but most are found in the New World. Australia’s Hunter Valley is renowned for limy Semillons that can age for decades and today, the Cape is fast gaining an impressive reputation for their interpretation of this grape. Lelanie has used a top selection of Semillon grapes from the Breedekloof region, close to the Breede River Valley, fermenting them at a low temperature to keep all that delicious freshness in the wine. A little ageing on its lees has lent the wine a lovely creamy richness which complements the zesty tropical fruit. This Amasimi wine is from a particularly successful Cape vintage for whites: the official wine body, WOSA, wrote: ”Prospects are very high for the 2007 vintage”.
