An extremely well balanced wine, showing classic Sauvignon Blanc flavours. Ripe, but not overly tropical, and green without being too vegetal. Given an extra richness and dimension by the additon of 14% Semillon.
La Motte Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Western Cape
This is a lively, zesty Sauvignon Blanc bursting with apple characters which are quickly followed by gooseberry and green pepper. The palate is dry but full with racy acidity which makes this a good wine to drink with spicy foods.
Robertson Winery Sauvignon Blanc 2009 Robertson
A fresh, dry and intensely fruity varietal Sauvignon Blanc. Robertson Valley is situated further inland than most in South Africa, where the daytime climate is hot and dry, but the nights are cool. These growing conditions enhance the zesty gooseberry flavours so common in Sauvignon Blanc.
Neil Ellis Sauvignon Blanc 2008 Groenekloof
Neil Ellis, from his winery and estate in Stellenbosch, pioneered the planting and sourcing of grapes from cooler, relatively unknown regions of the Cape, such as Elgin and Groenekloof. In the Darling hills, 50km north of Cape Town, the cold winds from the icy South Atlantic waters provide the perfect climate for producing top quality Sauvignon Blanc. This is a mouthwateringly fresh and supremely well balanced wine displaying aromas of tropical fruits with herbaceous and capsicum notes. A crisp, steely but fully ripe palate with an elegant and long, concentrated finish.
Rustenberg Chardonnay 2008 Stellenbosch
A beautifully balanced Chardonnay with rich fruit flavours enhanced by minerality and well integrated oak. The palate shows apricot and orange peel aromas with ripe citrus and stone fruit flavours and a long complex finish.
