Groot Constantia Shiraz 2007, Constantia
Groot Constantia’s story goes back to 1685, making it one of South Africa’s oldest estates, steeped in illustrious history. There are records of their wines being enjoyed by Frederick the Great of Prussia, the British Royal family and King Louis Philippe of France. A well balanced Shiraz wirth a deep ruby colour, a smoky, peppery nose and fleshy fruit. 15 months in French oak, plus bottling without filtration, give the wine superb body and texture. The winery recommends drinking with grilled kudu steaks wrapped in bacon, but almost any strongly flavoured meat dishes will pair well.
