Franschhoek Vineyards Ltd was founded in 1945 by a group of local farmers to vinify their grapes on a co-operative basis. They have long since shed this old co-op image and are now operating as a private winery within the premium wine stable of DGB(pty)Ltd. Revitalised management at this 60-year-old winery in the Western Cape’s idyllic Franschhoek Valley has rallied the number of crush-contributors to 50, including historic Huguenot estate La Motte. Besides initiating an uncompromised drive to produce great quality wines, Franschhoek Cellar now offers an outstanding value range of single variety wines such as this one-off bottling of Semillon.
