The creation of talented winemaker Jacques Erasmus, Dassen View is made at the Winecorp cellar in Robertson – a mountainous region close to the coast, where the cooling influence of the ocean promotes good aromatic qualities in the white wines. Jacques was born and raised on a Worcester wine estate, and made his first wine, a Chenin Blanc, at the tender age of 12 using a normal household fridge! He has worked ever since to make his dream of being a world-class winemaker a reality. Dassen View is made purely from Chenin Blanc, a variety that originates from France’s Loire region, but which South Africa has made its own. It thrives in the warm sunshine, producing golden hued wines with crisp apple and peach flavours and honeyed notes – often with a tell-tale hint of lanolin.
