When a leading South African winery found themselves with an excess of premium Cape Shiraz, we were quietly invited to take a few barrels off their hands. US tariffs and falling global demand has left many of South Africa’s wineries with an unexpected surplus, leading them to sell at prices they’d never normally entertain. But estates don’t want their prestigious name on deals like this, so we bottle anonymously with our Limited Release label – and you get to enjoy top Cape Coast Shiraz at a superb price. What we can tell you is that this is their top-release Shiraz from the finest spots on the Cape’s coast. A no expense spared super-cuvée, it’s dark, brooding and age-worthy, and a brilliant pairing for roast venison, slow-braised lamb shanks or aged cheeses.
