Description
One of South Africa’s oldest wineries and a well-known Western Cape landmark, Spier is still family-owned three centuries since its establishment in 1692.Their rich and complex 21 Gables Chenin Blanc has been crafted with grapes handpicked from 39-year-old vines from a single vineyard in the prestigious Stellenbosch region (just 15km from the ocean). Matured for 14 months in 60% new French oak, the result is a Chenin Blanc with intense flavour and excellent ageing potential (if you can wait!) – full of dried apricot and ripe tropical fruits, with an oak and vanilla creaminess. From the first sip you’ll see why a previous vintage received the prestigious IWSC Best Chenin Blanc Trophy, and the 2022 a Gold and 95 points from Decanter. A superb, rich white with duck or salmon.
