SORRY THIS WINE IS NOW SOLD OUT
Spier is surely one of the most amazing wine estates anywhere – home to the Cape’s oldest winery buildings, it has developed into a whole village for tourists complete with theatres, restaurants, a golf course, and cheetah and eagle encounter parks. Chenin Blanc is the classic white grape of the Loire, but has found a second home in South Africa as it retains its crispness even at really high levels of ripeness, while taking on delicious tropical fruit flavours. The grapes for this white were grown in selected vineyards, picked at optimum ripeness, and vinified with the specific intention of capturing varietal character in the wine. Subtle wood maturation ensures that the oak does not overpower, but rather forms an elegant background for natural fruit flavours. Pale straw in colour with a green hue, the wine shows aromas of tropical fruit, lime and melon with pear drops and boiled sweets. Lively fruit follows through to a zippy finish. Enjoy with grilled white fish or seafood pasta.
