Fairview Estate is a family owned property situated on the southwest facing slopes of Paarl Mountain in South Africa’s Western Cape. The first wine was in fact produced here in 1699, but the estate really began to shine from around 1937 when Charles Back I took possession. The current owner, Charles Back II, was voted the second most influential person in the South African wine industry – after Nelson Mandela! This aromatic white was produced by the estate’s rising young star Anthony de Jager, a winemaker and viticulturalist. He is also a keen mountain biker, and knows the local vineyards well, as he spends much of his weekends cycling around the Cape winelands.A delicious apéritif, this white is tasty, too, with grilled salmon steaks.
