Bellingham ‘The Bernard Series’ Bush Vine Pinotage 2009, Stellenbosch

A bold and classy take on South Africa’s signature red grape, this is somewhat removed from the medium-bodied, cherry-scented quaffers normally made from Pinotage. Hand-picked from a single vineyard site of mature vines and fermented and aged in French oak for 14 months. Full-bodied, with a deep plum purple colour. Intense damson and black cherry fruit, accented with hints of smoked meat and truffle notes, and a spicy toastiness from the oak. Drink with barbecued ribs or other flame grilled meats.
